Sadly, I must announce the transition of my beloved father-in-law, Moussa Diouf. On October 29, 2025 after more than 90 blessed years, Papa took his final breath. He passed away in his home, with his bed facing the Ka'bah and I imagine, while reciting prayers and holy verses in his heart and mind. I've attached a link to his published obituary below. Although it's lovingly written, the obituary doesn't capture all that he was or what he meant to his family. The day after his transition, we traveled to Senegal to be with family in this time of mourning. I will re-post my April newsletter where I wrote about Papa after visiting him for his 90th birthday.

As I bid farewell to my marvelous father-in-law, I can clearly see that the way we live our lives becomes the legacy we leave. The things we do for others, and the authenticity of our values speak for us once our voices go silent. There's an expression, "when you're born you look like your parents, when you die you look like your decisions." I would take that a step further and say that the decisions you make become your legacy. Each day we decide how we will live, what we will do, and how we will show up in the world. It was my blessing to be in a family led by a man who believed in doing everything to the highest standard possible, but could also admit to making mistakes along the way. Papa's faith was his moral compass, he walked by it and shared it with everyone he met by living in it. I look back on Papa's life and legacy and am honing my own values. I am striving to embody my beliefs and share them with the world.
